About this test
The PSS-10 does not ask about events. It asks how you experienced the last month β how often you felt unable to control important things, how often difficulties piled up beyond coping. Two people in identical circumstances can score very differently, and that is the point.
This is not a diagnostic instrument, because "stress" is not a psychiatric diagnosis. It is a measure of load. It is useful because sustained high stress is a known contributor to depression, anxiety, insomnia, hypertension and relapse in addiction.
If your score is high, the useful question is not "do I have a condition" but "what is generating this load, and what is available to reduce it".
What your score means
| Score | Result | What it suggests |
|---|---|---|
| 0β13 | Low stress | Your perceived stress is in the lower range. |
| 14β26 | Moderate stress | A level many people live with, but worth attention if it is constant. |
| 27β40 | High stress | Sustained stress at this level affects sleep, health and mood β worth addressing. |
